Nearly 300 children and their Families including Sponsors, Staff, guests and volunteers experienced up to 20 various artistic booths at the Annual “Art IS Education Festival that was held on Saturday, March 24th at the Long Beach Art Expo Center. The Event featured a Day that Celebrates and showcases the immense role arts plays in education through dance, music, theater, media arts, literature, design, and visual arts.
Festival entertainment was performed by Hughes Middle School’s Young, Gifted and Talented Black History Club Performing Arts Group under the direction Dr. McCloyn and the North Long Beach United Methodist Church Polynesian cultural dance team. Back by popular demand children’s author Marsha Bullock again shared her award winning book. There was also activities for special needs and autistic families and for infants and toddlers. The festival concluded with a special 7th Birthday celebration for museum mascot, “Hearty Marty”.
