Agape Children’s Museum’s upcoming “India Kidz” exhibit promises to transport visitors on an engaging, educational journey to the vibrant culture of India. As part of the museum’s annual Art Is Education Festival, this hands-on experience will allow kids and their families to explore the art, food, and traditions of the world’s second-most populous country.
Reflecting Agape’s commitment to celebrating diversity, the exhibit was created in partnership with the Children’s Art Museum of India and the local Indian community. “India Kidz” aligns with the museum’s cultural theme of “An Art and Creative World,” providing approachable, wonder-filled learning opportunities for young children and their families.
Visitors can look forward to a variety of immersive activities that stimulate the senses and encourage cultural exploration. Children will have the chance to smell and identify popular Indian spices like turmeric and cumin, try their hand at block printing, and assemble traditional mithai (sweets) boxes. Families can also dress up in vibrant traditional clothing and pose for glamorous Bollywood-inspired photos on the red carpet.
Beyond visual and culinary experiences, the exhibit will offer opportunities to engage with Indian games, toys, and dance. Guests can play with classic toys like spinning tops and kites, as well as learn the steps to traditional Indian dances and expressions.
“India Kidz” has been made possible through the support of community partners including the Port of Long Beach, Arts Council for Long Beach, April Parker Foundation, and Amoye Health Inc. The exhibit is sponsored locally by Friends of the Museum.
