Kwanzaa is a time for families and communities to come together to remember the past and to celebrate African-American culture. Kwanzaa is not an African holiday, but it’s inspired by many African cultural practices.

Traditionally Celebrated December 26 thru January 1, the holiday encourages people to honor seven principles: unity, self-determination (helping yourself succeed), collective work and responsibility (teamwork), cooperative economics (sharing), purpose, creativity, and faith.

Please come celebrate the holiday with the City of Long Beach Black Health Equity Program and other community organizations on Saturday, December 9th from 11 am to 3 pm at the Michelle Obama Library at 5870 Atlantic Ave in Long Beach.
